Orchestral
Arrangements and workshops
Emily Sheppard and Yyan Ng bring their wide-ranging experience as performers, educators, and collaborators into orchestral spaces.
Their work equips classically-trained musicians with musical skills to move between varied genres, jam with others and write their own music.
Using their own compositions and selected arrangements, Emily and Yyan create pedagogical entry points into a wide range of topics. They offer opportunities ranging from single workshops and rehearsals to long-term, collaborative projects with ensembles.
Topics covered include: Improvisation, composition, playing by ear, extended string techniques, groove and ergnomics.
Eels
Searching for the Eel Song
Freshwater eels have enchanted great minds for centuries,
their mysteries as elusive as their presence.
Through sound and stories, we are exploring Tasmania’s eels with our collaborator Dr. Malcolm Johnson.
They have created eel-skin instruments, developed performances telling the incredible life cycle of eels,
and made a schools show about Tasmania’s freshwater eels, supported by Arts Tasmania.
